OCT 9: Mary Sandoval, is a candidate for reelection to the Fontana School Board. Ms. Sandoval, a resident of 
the City of Fontana for over 60 years, was elected to the Fontana Unified School District Board of Education in November 2014. She has been married for over 38 years to her husband Jesse, who is a Fontana City Council member, and they have 3 adult children; Jesus Jr., Maria Teresa, Maria Cecelia, son-in-law Willie and grandchildren: Giselle, Christopher and Francisco. Her family including uncles, aunts, brthers, children, son-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews have all attended and graduated from Fontana schools. Ms. Sandoval’s great-nieces and great-nephews are currently attending.
She is retired from MTC Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino. She was employed as an Academic Programs Administrator. Over the last 16 years, Ms. Sandoval has seen a decline in numeracy and literacy of the incoming students. This inspired her to run for Fontana Unified School District Board of Education.
As an FUSD Board member, she is committed to:
- Ensure all students are academically prepared for their future endeavors
- Ensure that all FUSD employees have the tools they need to be successful in performing their jobs
- Streamline the process for special needs students to receive services
Ms. Sandoval will always have an open door and lend a listening ear to all student and parent concerns.
Mary is the Trustee Area 5 representative. Her current term expires in 2026.
