Club Mission and History

The mission of the San Bernardino Democratic Luncheon Club is to present Democrats and their ideas to the public and to advance the ideals of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Luncheon Club was formed in the 1930’s and was reorganized as a chartered Democratic Club in 1993.

Serving as the reorganized club’s first President, Don Rusk sought to rebuild the club as a platform for Democrats and a forum for progressive ideas.

Contemporary ideas of progressive Democrats are presented virtually every Friday at Noon in a successful one-hour format.

U.S.Senator Barbara Boxer tops our speakers list, which is the most distinguished and compelling of any political organization in the Inland Empire. Our wide range of speakers also includes:

  • The California Lieutenant Governor

  • Members of Congress

  • State Senators

  • Assembly Members

  • A host of Mayors

  • City Council Members

  • Chiefs of Police

  • Judges

  • Other Government Officials

  • Democratic Candidates for Office

  • Labor Leaders

  • Environmentalists

  • Civil Rights Activists

  • College Professors

  • Political Operatives

  • Attorneys

While other Democratic “leaders” watched the Republican voter registration in San Bernardino County surpass Democratic registration, the Democratic Luncheon Club, in conjunction with Congressman Baca and the California Democratic Party, put rubber to the road. We registered more than 240 Democrats in 2002 as part of an unprecedented registration campaign.

With a membership list exceeding 100 dues-paying members, we are the largest and most active Democratic club in the Inland Empire.

We invite you to join us each Friday at noon as we enjoy great speakers and the company of local Democratic leaders. We meet at Democratic Headquarters, 136 Carousel Mall, San Bernardino.
